  • Enhanced DBS: A valid Enhanced DBS clearance registered on the Update Service (or a willingness to apply for one).
  • Strong subject knowledge across Product Design, Resistant Materials, and Textiles.
  • Eligibility to Work: Valid legal entitlement to work full-time in the UK.
Core Skills
  • Excellent classroom management techniques tailored to both practical workshop and theory environments.
  • Proficiency in demonstrating the safe handling of various tools, machinery, and materials (woods, plastics, metals, and fabrics).
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts clearly to diverse learner profiles.
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills to balance lesson planning, marking, and material preparation.
  • High levels of emotional intelligence, empathy, and adaptability to support an inclusive student community.
  • Strong analytical skills to interpret student data and implement targeted learning interventions.
Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality, differentiated DT lessons encompassing Product Design, Resistant Materials, and Textiles.
  • Maintain a safe, productive, and highly organised workshop environment in strict accordance with health and safety regulations.
  • Assess, record, and report on the development, progress, and attainment of students to maximise academic outcomes.
  • Implement the academy's structured behaviour policies consistently to maintain a positive and focused climate for learning.
  • Foster a culture of mutual respect, kindness, and high expectations among all students in the classroom.
  • Support the school's extensive enrichment programme by leading or assisting with practical, skills-based extracurricular activities.
  • Actively participate in the school's daily morning Personal Development and Growth sessions.
  • Collaborate with the department and the wider trust to share best practices, resources, and innovative teaching strategies.
  • Engage regularly with parents, carers, and external stakeholders regarding student progress and well-being.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of an inclusive curriculum that encourages all pupils, regardless of starting point, to aim high.
