BSL Teaching Assistant (1:1)

Peterborough Long-Term Role £93 - £105 per day September 2026 Start

Are you fluent in British Sign Language (BSL) and looking for a role where you can make a genuine difference every single day?

Tradewind Recruitment is working in partnership with a fantastic primary school in Peterborough to recruit a compassionate and dedicated BSL Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a Year 5 pupil who is Deaf.

This is an incredibly rewarding opportunity to become a key part of a child's educational journey, helping them to access learning, build confidence and fully participate in school life. You'll work alongside a welcoming teaching team in a school that prides itself on creating an inclusive environment where every child is encouraged to thrive.

What You'll Be Doing

As the successful Teaching Assistant, you will:

• Provide dedicated 1:1 support throughout the school day using British Sign Language (BSL).
• Adapt learning activities to ensure the pupil can fully engage in lessons.
• Encourage independence, confidence and positive communication.
• Support the pupil's academic, social and emotional development.
• Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO and wider school staff to deliver the best possible outcomes.
• Help create a nurturing and inclusive learning environment.

We're Looking For Someone Who:

• Has experience using British Sign Language (BSL) in an educational or professional setting.
• Has previous experience supporting children, ideally within a primary or SEND environment.
• Is patient, empathetic and passionate about inclusive education.
• Can build positive relationships with pupils, families and colleagues.
• Wants to make a meaningful impact on a child's learning and development.
