SEND Teaching Assistant – Bristol (BS4 & BS16) | Full-Time | Temp to Permanent

Are you an experienced SEND Teaching Assistant looking for a rewarding long-term opportunity?

Protocol Education is recruiting dedicated and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistants to join a specialist school in BS4 & BS16, Bristol. This is a full-time, temp-to-perm opportunity, where successful candidates will work through Protocol Education for 12 weeks before moving onto a permanent contract with the school.

This specialist setting supports children and young people aged 3–18 years with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD) and complex special educational needs.

Your responsibilities will include:

Providing 1:1 and classroom-based support to pupils with complex SEND.

Supporting pupils with PMLD, physical disabilities, and complex medical needs.

Assisting students who use wheelchairs and mobility equipment.

Supporting pupils with personal care where required, including the use of hoists and PEG feeding (full training can be provided where appropriate).

Working with non-verbal pupils using a variety of communication strategies.

Supporting positive behaviour and helping pupils achieve their individual learning goals.

Working closely with teachers, therapists, and the wider multidisciplinary team.

Essential requirements:

Minimum 1 year's experience supporting children or young people with SEND.

More than 1 year's Right to Work in the UK.

Comfortable working with pupils aged 3–18 years.

Comfortable supporting pupils with complex needs, PMLD, physical disabilities, challenging behaviour, and non-verbal communication.

Looking for a full-time, long-term position with the intention of becoming a permanent member of staff.

Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
