Mechanical Fitter Kent Shifts (40 - 50 hours per week) £33ph (Inside IR35)

Location: Tonbridge, Kent
Shifts: Days, Afters and Nights 10 hours a shifts
Hours: 4 on, 4 off average 40-50 hours a week
Pay: £33.00 an hour inside IR35 (Umbrella rate)
Contract until December 2026

Mechanical Fitter required to join a specialist team responsible for the upkeep of Rail Head Treatment Trains (RHTT) vital on-track machinery used to clear leaf fall, debris, and contaminants from the rail network during autumn and winter seasons.

This is a unique opportunity for a Mechanical Fitter to work at the heart of rail operations, ensuring the safe and efficient running of trains across the UK. You ll be working on high-pressure water jetting systems, sanding units, and other mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic components that make up the RHTT fleet.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform scheduled and reactive maintenance on RHTT units.
• Diagnose and repair faults in mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
• Conduct pre-season preparation and post-season decommissioning.
• Work closely with operations teams to ensure timely deployment and reliability.
• Maintain accurate records of inspections and repairs.
• Adhere to safety standards and rail industry regulations.

What We re Looking For:

• Experience in Rail, Plant, HGV, Automotive, or similar Engineering (RHTT experience desirable but not essential).
• Strong Mechanical Fitter skills.
• Ability to work shifts during peak season.
• Proficient in the use of hand held and power tools.

The Ideal Candidate

You will have strong mechanical fitment skills and proficiency in using hand and power tools. Flexibility to work shifts during peak seasons is essential, along with a proactive, safety-conscious approach and the ability to work effectively as part of a team as well as working alone.
