Contract: Full-Time Long-Term

A specialist SEND school in East London is seeking dedicated and enthusiastic SEN Teachers to join its team from September 2026. The school supports pupils aged 3-19 with a range of additional needs, including Visual Impairment, Autism, ADHD, SEMH and Complex Learning Needs, providing an inclusive environment where every learner is supported to achieve their full potential.

The Role

You will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging, differentiated lessons tailored to the individual needs of pupils, supporting both their academic progress and personal development. You will work closely with Teaching Assistants, therapists and other professionals to provide high-quality, personalised education.



Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver creative, differentiated lessons that meet the needs of pupils with SEND.
  • Develop and implement individual learning programmes and EHCP targets.
  • Create a positive, structured and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Assess, monitor and record pupil progress.
  • Work collaboratively with support staff, therapists, parents and external agencies.
  • Promote communication, independence and social development.
  • Adapt teaching strategies to meet a wide range of learning needs.
  • Maintain high standards of safeguarding, behaviour and wellbeing.
  • Attend annual reviews, meetings and contribute to whole-school development.


Pathway Information

Pathway 1 - Profound & Complex Needs

  • Teach pupils with profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD) and complex physical, sensory and medical needs.
  • Deliver highly personalised sensory-based learning.
  • Support pupils with personal care, feeding, mobility and hoisting where required.
  • Work alongside therapists and healthcare professionals to maximise pupil outcomes.


Pathway 2 - Emerging Communication

  • Support pupils developing early communication skills.
  • Deliver sensory and play-based learning activities.
  • Use visual supports and structured routines to encourage communication and engagement.
  • Promote interaction, social awareness and joint attention.


Pathway 3 - Developing Independence

  • Deliver structured, differentiated lessons to pupils accessing a more formal curriculum.
  • Promote communication, independence and problem-solving skills.
  • Implement EHCP outcomes and personalised learning programmes.
  • Monitor progress and encourage resilience and participation.


Person Specification

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS or equivalent).
  • Experience teaching pupils with SEND, Autism, SEMH, Complex Needs or Learning Disabilities.
  • Strong understanding of EHCPs and differentiated teaching.
  • Excellent communication and classroom management skills.
  • Patient, resilient and passionate about inclusive education.
  • Able to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
