Job Title: SHE Advisor
Location: Barton Under Needwood
Contract: Minimum of 3 months
Salary: Negotiable
Hours: 37 hours ( 8am -4.30pm Mon to Thurs, 8am to 1pm Fri)
Our Engineering client based at Barton Under Needwood are looking for an experienced SHE Advisor, for a minimum of 3 months work.
The role will be based on site for all hours.
Job Purpose:
To support the development, implementation and maintenance of compliant safety, health and environmental management systems across all activities, advising on legislation and best practice and also auditing compliance to identify areas of improvement.
Assist the SHE Business Partner in the implementation of a continuously improving SHE management system.
Promote a positive safety culture.
Key Responsibilities & Activities
* Provide an occupational health, safety and environmental service to operational activities and its personnel, including upkeep of associated management systems and interpretation and applicability of legislation to the Company and its operations.
* Support Lead SHE Advisor and the UK Head of SHE with the implementation of SHE Directives.
* Work closely with responsible Managers, and other key staff to establish and maintain key Health, Safety and Environmental improvements within their areas of responsibility.
* Support the site audit program, ensuring compliance with all associated legislation and management system requirements. Carry out all audits and ensure that any remedial recommendations are followed up.
* Identify opportunities for continuous safety, health and environmental improvement and implement programs to deliver these.
* Assist in the selection and deployment of suitable technology -based solutions to drive improvements in health, safety and environment.
* Support the Lead SHE Advisor in contact with external, regulatory, audit and trade bodies on health, safety and environmental matters e.g. HSE, EA, BSI.
* Participate and support in accident and incident investigations, ensuring the meeting of statutory reporting deadlines to HSE where applicable, establishing root causes and suitable and sufficient controls.
* Provision of statistics, trend analysis etc. Develop and monitor H&S key performance indicators, providing management with statistical analysis and taking remedial action where necessary.
* Attend and support the quarterly Safety Committee, deputise as Chair for the Lead SHE Advisor
* Manage the company's Health Surveillance arrangements.
* Support in the implementation of Risk/CoSHH assessments ensuring suitable and sufficient safe working instructions are determined and communicated as appropriate.
* Embed a culture of pro-active risk management in health, safety & environment
* Support the development of a culture of pro-active risk management in health, safety and environment.
* Assess the Company and individual needs for health, safety and environmental training in respect of maintaining statutory levels of training and competence. Promote good safety, health and environmental practices by training and educating people and supporting managers and other key staff. Responsible for the delivery of health, safety and environmental training either in-house or externally.
* Responsible for ensuring your own health and safety and that of others and promoting a positive health and safety culture within the workplace
* Ensure all Health and safety obligations are met, and company policies are adhered to
* Report any safety concerns, hazard observations, accidents and incidents by the end of that shift to allow full investigation and prevent re-occurrence

* Experience in working in a manufacturing environment
Qualifications/Education Required:
Essential
NEBOSH Certificate in Safety, Health and Environment.
Desirable
Working towards NEBOSH Diploma
Training Qualification

* Proven experience of designing and delivering HSE training.
* Experience of working and developing an integrated management system.
* Numerate.
* Commercially/legally aware.
* Excellent understanding of Health, Safety and Environmental legislation.
* Experience of working to ISO 45001, 18001 & 9001
* Sound IT skills (particularly Excel).
* Ability to efficiently organise workload in an ever changing environment.
* Ability to work autonomously or as part of a team.
* Organised - able to manage multiple issues.
* Excellent communicator.

Desirable
* Experience of working in a manufacturing environment, across multiple sites.
* Lead Auditor in ISO standards.

* Engineering experience/ qualification.
