As a newly qualified primary teacher (ECT), securing a place for your Early Career Teacher (ECT) placement is a crucial step in your teaching career. 1. Role Placement:
High-Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA): As an HLTA, you will support classroom teachers in delivering lessons and may take on teaching responsibilities for small groups or entire classes. This role helps you develop classroom management skills and instructional techniques.

Currently looking for an ECT who has experience in EYFS and KS1 to work as a HLTA from February 2025 until July 2025 with the opportunity to go onto a school contract and take a full time Teacher role once one becomes available.

2. Gaining Experience:
Working as an HLTA allows you to gain practical experience in different school settings. You will interact with students of various ages and abilities, which broadens your teaching experience and prepares you for your ECT placement.

Introducing yourself to different schools and building professional relationships is essential. By working in various schools, you can network with school leaders, teachers, and other staff, which may lead to potential ECT placement opportunities.

Schools often prefer to hire individuals they are familiar with and who have demonstrated their abilities and commitment. Your time as an HLTA could pave the way for securing a permanent ECT placement.
