Learning Support Assistant (SEMH)

Are you a compassionate and resilient Learning Support Assistant who is passionate about supporting children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs?

We are working with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Reading looking for a dedicated LSA to support pupils across the primary age range who need additional help to thrive both emotionally and academically.

The Role

As a Learning Support Assistant (SEMH) you will:

• Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEMH needs.

• Help pupils regulate emotions and develop positive behaviour strategies.

• Support learning in the classroom and help pupils stay engaged with lessons.

• Work closely with teachers, SENCOs and pastoral staff to implement support strategies.

• Build positive relationships that help pupils feel safe and supported.

• Experience supporting children or young people with SEMH or behavioural needs.

• A calm, patient and resilient approach.

• Strong relationship-building skills.

• A genuine passion for helping children overcome barriers to learning.

Experience in roles such as Teaching Assistant, Youth Worker, Behaviour Mentor, Care Worker or Support Worker would also be highly beneficial.
