Chief Architect

Location: UK or Ireland (regular travel required)

Type: Full-time | Initial 3–6 month contract with potential to become permanent

£650-£700pd + Dependent on experience  (Outside IR35)

Overview

A technology organisation in the public sector space is looking for a Chief Architect to define and lead its end-to-end platform architecture. You’ll set technical direction, ensure systems are secure and scalable, and align architecture with business and product strategy.

Key Responsibilities

Define and own enterprise architecture strategy and standards

Lead design reviews and govern architectural decisions

Ensure scalable, resilient, and secure system design

Drive cloud-native, microservices, API, and data architecture adoption

Maintain platform consistency across regions and teams

Collaborate with engineering, product, and senior stakeholders

Mentor engineers and promote best practicesSkills & Experience

10+ years in software engineering, including senior architecture roles

Strong experience with distributed, cloud-native systems (AWS, Azure, or GCP)

Expertise in microservices, event-driven architecture, APIs, and data platforms

Solid understanding of security architecture (e.g. zero-trust)

Experience in public sector or regulated environments (desirable)

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skillsAdditional Info
