Mechanical Engineer – Contract

Location: Morpeth Northumberland

Rate: £400–£450 per day (Inside IR35)

Duration: May 2026 – December 2026

The Role

We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Engineer to support delivery on a live project at HMP Northumberland. The role will involve overseeing mechanical building services installation within a secure, operational environment, requiring a strong focus on coordination, safety, and programme delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

Safe management and control of mechanical services installation packages

Management of design information, including coordination and change control

Coordination of installation activities and associated supply chain resources

Ensuring works are delivered in line with programme and sequencing requirements

Maintaining compliance with health, safety, and site operational constraints

Requirements:

Proven experience in Mechanical Engineering within the construction sector

Strong knowledge and understanding of MEP systems and site delivery

Experience working with a leading national or regional contractor

Project experience within custodial, healthcare, education, or science sectors is desirable

Demonstrable experience in:

People management

Programme and sequence management

Safe control of mechanical systems

Proficiency in digital construction methods, including BIM and field-based tools

Strong commercial awareness and risk management capability
