Teaching Assistant Level 4 – Pastoral Mentor

£26,244 (SCP 11) - £28,944 (SCP 17) per year - fixed term contract Maternity Leave Cover

We are seeking a enthusiastic and dedicated Pastoral Mentor to join our team on a fixed-term basis to cover maternity leave.

This is a fantastic opportunity to support children and young people as part of a dynamic and supportive school community.

What you’ll be doing:

Support individuals, small groups, or whole classes to access learning, make progress, and achieve their potential

Work with the class teacher to understand learning objectives and contribute to planning learning activities or programmes under supervision

Assess, monitor, and record pupil progress, adapting support to meet varying needs

Provide targeted support for behaviour, wellbeing, and personal development, including mentoring or structured support programmes

Promote high standards of behaviour and engagement in line with school policies and procedures

Safeguard pupils by following school procedures, working with safeguarding leads, maintaining accurate records, and contributing to risk assessments

Assist with preparation and administrative tasks such as creating resources, displays, and supporting lesson organisation

Support pupil welfare and wellbeing, ensuring a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment

What we’re looking for:

GCSE or equivalent qualifications, including English and Maths

Excellent interpersonal skills

Good verbal and written communication skills

Experience working with children and young people with SEND in an educational setting

Opened in 2018, Oakbridge School is an independent special day school in Birmingham with a specially designed learning environment created to meet the needs of autistic children. We provide a calm, low arousal, safe, positive and nurturing place where young people can learn and grow.

Oakbridge School is part of Kedleston Group. We specialise in providing specialist education and care for children aged 7-19 with a range of special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). These include autistic spectrum condition (ASC), attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and social emotional and mental health needs (SEMH).
