Contract Maintenance Engineer - FMCG / Packaging

Ashford, Kent Area

£35-£37 per hour at 42.5 hours per week (Outside IR35)

Monday to Friday | Rotating Shifts

We're currently recruiting for a Contract Maintenance Engineer to join a well-established and fast-paced FMCG / packaging manufacturer based in the Kent area. This is a great opportunity for an experienced engineer looking for a well-paid contract role with strong long-term potential.

About the Role:

This is a hands-on maintenance role where you will play a key part in supporting production within a high-speed packaging environment. You'll be expected to hit the ground running, carrying out both planned and reactive maintenance to keep the site operating efficiently.

The role is ideal for someone who can think on their feet and resolve issues quickly, helping minimise downtime and maintain production output. Maintenance engineers are critical in ensuring machinery runs efficiently and responding to breakdowns promptly to avoid disruption. [(url removed)]

Key Responsibilities:

Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance

Diagnose and fault-find on mechanical and electrical systems

Respond quickly to breakdowns and minimise downtime

Maintain and repair packaging machinery and production line equipment

Work closely with production teams to ensure smooth operation

Support overall performance in a fast-paced FMCG environment

What We're Looking For:

Strong hands-on maintenance experience within manufacturing

Proven fault-finding and problem-solving ability

Experience working on production or packaging machinery

Background in FMCG / food manufacturing highly desirable

Can be electrically biased, mechanically biased, or multi-skilled

A practical, job-ready engineer who can make an immediate impact

What's On Offer:

£35-£38 per hour (Outside IR35)

Initial 6-month contract with strong likelihood of extension

Contractors previously extended long-term on site

Monday to Friday rotating shifts (earlies, lates, nights)
