Are you an experienced Social Worker looking for your next locum opportunity in a unique and rewarding setting? Newport Children's Services at Isle of Wight Council is seeking a dedicated Social Worker to join its Safeguarding Service, supporting children and families through effective intervention, assessment, and long-term planning.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work within a close-knit and supportive service where relationship-based practice is at the heart of everything they do. Key Responsibilities

Manage a caseload of children and families within Child in Need and Child Protection frameworks.

Undertake safeguarding assessments and risk management interventions.

Complete Section 47 investigations and contribute to effective safety planning.

Develop and implement outcome-focused care and support plans.

Carry out direct work with children, young people, and families.

Prepare high-quality assessments, reports, and court documentation where required.

Participate in Child Protection Conferences, Core Groups, Strategy Meetings, and Legal Planning Meetings.

Work collaboratively with education, health, police, and other partner agencies.

Promote permanence, stability, and positive outcomes for children.

Ensure accurate and timely recording in accordance with statutory guidance and local procedures.

Candidate Requirements

Qualified Social Worker with a recognised Social Work qualification.

Registered with the Social Work England.

Experience working within Safeguarding, Child Protection, CIN, or Locality Services.

Strong knowledge of safeguarding legislation and statutory responsibilities.

Excellent assessment, communication, and report-writing skills.

Ability to manage complex caseloads and work effectively within a multi-agency environment.

Commitment to achieving the best possible outcomes for children and families.
