Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) – SEMH & Emotional Regulation Support
We are looking for a compassionate, resilient, and skilled Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to support a cohort of pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
This is a unique opportunity to work with young people who need positive relationships, emotional support, and consistent guidance to help them succeed both in and out of the classroom. The successful candidate will play a key role in helping pupils develop emotional regulation skills, build resilience, and engage positively with learning.
About the Role
You will work closely with pupils who may experience difficulties managing emotions, behaviour, anxiety, and relationships. Through patience, empathy, and a nurturing approach, you will help create an environment where pupils feel safe, understood, and ready to learn.
You will:
* Support pupils to recognise, understand, and regulate their emotions.
* Deliver targeted interventions focused on emotional wellbeing, resilience, and social skills.
* Build strong, trusting relationships with young people who may have experienced challenges in education.
* Support pupils during periods of dysregulation using restorative and trauma-informed approaches.
* Work alongside teachers and pastoral staff to remove barriers to learning.
* Promote positive behaviour, engagement, attendance, and wellbeing.
* Contribute to personalised support plans and monitor pupil progress.
We Are Looking for Someone Who:
* Holds HLTA status or has significant experience in a similar role.
* Has experience supporting children or young people with SEMH needs.
* Understands emotional regulation strategies and therapeutic approaches to behaviour.
* Can remain calm, patient, and supportive during challenging situations.
* Builds positive relationships based on trust, consistency, and respect.
* Is passionate about helping vulnerable young people achieve success.
What We Offer
* The opportunity to make a genuine and lasting difference to young people's lives.
* A supportive and dedicated team committed to inclusion and wellbeing.
* Ongoing training and professional development.
* A rewarding role where every day brings the chance to help a child overcome barriers and experience success.

If you are a caring and dedicated HLTA who is passionate about supporting emotional wellbeing and helping young people thrive, we would love to hear from you
