School Caretaker's Required
Empowering Learning - Teesside

Empowering Learning is currently recruiting a reliable and proactive School Caretaker's to support schools across the Teesside area.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with practical maintenance skills, a strong understanding of health and safety, and a commitment to ensuring school premises remain safe, secure, and well-maintained.

Various school settings across Teesside

The role typically involves a split shift pattern of:

• 7:00am - 9:00am
• 3:00pm - 6:00pm

Hours may vary slightly depending on the requirements of each school. Due to the nature of the role and travel between sites, applicants must hold a full UK driving licence and have access to transport.

• Opening and securing school buildings at the start and end of the day
• Carrying out basic DIY and maintenance tasks
• Ensuring school grounds are safe, tidy, and well-maintained
• Conducting routine health and safety checks
• Testing and monitoring fire alarms and emergency systems
• Reporting maintenance issues and liaising with relevant contractors when required
• Performing minor repairs and preventative maintenance
• Monitoring site security and responding to issues as they arise
• Assisting with room setups and school events where necessary
• Ensuring compliance with all health and safety procedures and school policies

• Previous experience in a caretaker, site supervisor, facilities, maintenance, or similar role
• Practical DIY and maintenance skills
• Good understanding of health and safety procedures
• Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle

• Enhanced DBS Certificate registered on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one through Empowering Learning
• Ability to provide professional references covering the last two years from employment, education/study, or voluntary work
