Job Title: Structures Manager

Location: North West

Contract: Freelance (8 Months)

Urgently seeking an experienced Structures Manager for works in the North West on an 8-month freelance basis. Immediate availability is essential, with mobilisation required as soon as possible.

This role will suit a Structures Manager with strong bridges and highways structures experience, ideally within a Local Authority or framework environment, with proven involvement in Early Contractor Involvement (ECI), design management, and temporary works coordination.

A strong Structures Manager will take ownership of structures schemes from feasibility through to delivery, working closely with the Client and stakeholders to develop safe, efficient, and buildable solutions.

This is a key role for a Structures Manager who can operate within a live highways maintenance environment, driving programme, commercial performance, safety, and quality.

The Role

As a Structures Manager, you will lead the delivery of bridges and structures works including maintenance, repair, strengthening, and renewals.

You will be heavily involved in ECI stages, supporting feasibility, optioneering, buildability, and solution development with the Client and design teams.

You will also take responsibility for design management, temporary works coordination, and ensuring compliance across all aspects of delivery.

Key Responsibilities

·Lead delivery as a Structures Manager across highways structures schemes

·Manage ECI activity including feasibility, optioneering, and buildability input

·Oversee design management and ensure compliant, buildable solutions

·Coordinate temporary works planning, design, and implementation

·Deliver schemes safely, on programme, and within budget

·Manage commercial performance, cost control, and reporting

·Develop and monitor programmes across live schemes

·Manage subcontractors, procurement, and change control

·Ensure compliance with CDM, DMRB, and H&S legislation

Requirements

·Proven experience as a Structures Manager or senior bridges/structures professional

·Strong highways structures background (bridges, retaining walls, culverts, etc.)

·ECI, design management, and temporary works experience essential

·Strong NEC contract knowledge (preferred NEC4)

·Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills

·SMSTS, CSCS (or equivalent) required

·Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (preferred)
