Site Supervisor / General Foreman – Groundworks

Location: Durham Area

Rate: Competitive and dependent on experience

Duration: 18 months

Start Date: Immediate Start Available

Working Hours: 07:00 – 17:00, Monday to Friday, with additional overtime and weekend shifts available

We are seeking an experienced Site Supervisor / General Foreman to take responsibility for the day-to-day management of groundworks operations on projects throughout the Durham area. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a well-established contractor with a strong pipeline of work and excellent earning potential.

Main Duties

* Oversee several groundworks teams, ensuring works are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project schedules.

* Lead site activities and maintain productivity across all work areas.

* Organise labour, plant, and material requirements to keep operations running smoothly.

* Monitor progress on site and ensure all activities meet health and safety regulations.

* Work closely with project managers, subcontractors, suppliers, and site personnel.

* Ensure works are carried out to the required quality standards and specifications.

* Conduct site inductions, briefings, and toolbox talks when necessary.

* Address and resolve operational issues to prevent delays and maintain programme targets.

Candidate Requirements

* Previous experience in a Site Supervisor, General Foreman, Groundworks Foreman, or similar position.

* Strong leadership and organisational skills with experience managing site teams.

* Proven ability to coordinate resources effectively on active construction projects.

* SSSTS or SMSTS qualification.

* Valid CSCS card.

* NVQ qualification in a relevant discipline is advantageous.

* Sound knowledge of construction health and safety practices.

* Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with site teams and management.
