EAL Learning Support Assistant (LSA) - Secondary School - Hillingdon - September 2026 Start - Full-Time

Are you passionate about supporting young people and helping them achieve their full potential?

Do you have the confidence, resilience, and interpersonal skills to positively influence student progress, particularly for learners who speak English as an Additional Language (EAL), in a secondary school setting?

Tradewind Recruitment is partnering with a welcoming and inclusive secondary school in Hillingdon seeking to appoint a dedicated EAL Learning Support Assistant (LSA) from September 2026. This full-time role is ideal for graduates, aspiring teachers, linguistics students, or individuals considering a future career in education, SEN support, pastoral care, or language development.

This is an excellent opportunity to become a valued member of a supportive school community, helping students overcome language barriers and develop the confidence and skills needed to succeed academically, socially, and emotionally.

The Role

As an EAL Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with teaching staff, the SEN and EAL teams, and students to support language acquisition, classroom engagement, and academic achievement across Key Stages 3 and 4.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting students with English as an Additional Language (EAL) across a range of curriculum subjects
  • Providing one-to-one and small group interventions to develop language skills and confidence
  • Assisting students with reading, writing, speaking, and listening activities
  • Helping learners access the curriculum by adapting resources and clarifying language where required
  • Working collaboratively with teachers to deliver targeted language support strategies
  • Encouraging students to become confident, independent learners
  • Supporting the integration of newly arrived students into school life
  • Monitoring progress and providing feedback to teaching and inclusion staff
  • Assisting with pastoral and wellbeing support where appropriate
  • Contributing to a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment

The Ideal Candidate

The school is looking for an enthusiastic and committed individual who is passionate about inclusion and supporting students to succeed.

You will have:

  • A degree or relevant experience working with young people
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • An understanding of, or interest in, language acquisition and EAL support
  • The ability to build positive relationships with students from diverse backgrounds
  • A patient, proactive, and encouraging approach
  • Excellent organisational and teamwork skills
  • A genuine passion for education and helping young people achieve their potential

Previous experience in education, tutoring, mentoring, youth work, language support, or EAL interventions is desirable but not essential.

Why Apply?

  • Join a supportive and inclusive secondary school in Hillingdon
  • Make a meaningful difference to students' language development and academic success
  • Gain valuable experience for careers in teaching, educational psychology, speech and language therapy, linguistics, SEN, or pastoral support
  • Work alongside experienced teachers, SEN professionals, and EAL specialists
  • Full-time, term-time only position starting September 2026
  • Excellent opportunities for professional development and career progression
  • Be part of a diverse school community that values inclusion, achievement, and student wellbeing

How to Apply

If you are passionate about helping young people overcome language barriers and thrive in education, we would love to hear from you.
