• Significant experience in creating UI/UX within the games industry.
• Expertise with UI/UX design tools, for wireframing and interactive prototyping, including design software and other general design tools, such as design software and design software.
• Comfortable collaborating with strong-minded, creative teams.
• Excellent creative problem-solving skills – creating simple solutions to complex problems.
• Demonstrated ability to approach numerous UX features in an agile manner.
• Previous experience mentoring, upskilling and inspiring design team members to excellence.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with excellent presentation skills and the ability to effectively convey a vision or idea to non-art stakeholders.
• You have a solid grasp of visual design and user interface design principles.
• Proactive, collaborative and self-motivated.
Role Overview
Principal UX/UI Designer – 12 month contract
We are the organisation, a multi-award-winning game developer and a proud member of the organisation family. We have a history of creating revolutionary games such as previous game titles, previous game titles and most recently, award-winning titles. It’s a fantastic time to join us as we embark on our next adventure, defining and executing the vision for our next ambitious project and settling into our spectacular, newly studio in central Guildford. We are now searching for a talented Principal UI/UX Designer to join us on a 12-month contract.
Key Responsibilities
• Reporting into the Associate Design Director, the Principal UI/UX Designer will build positive, collaborative and inclusive working relationships with all disciplines within the team to ensure consistency, authenticity, and brand harmony across all systems and UI/UX.
• Partnering with the Art Director, UI and Brand team to develop the UI art direction and assisting with the style guide to maintain visual consistence throughout the production of the game.
• Working with the leadership team & designers to ensure that UX design feature goals are clear, developed and maintained throughout development.
• Partnering with production as representative for the UI/UX team - managing their roadmap and ensuring that all documentation is up to date & easy to share.
• Analytical UX problem defining, researching & solving.
• Designing, prototyping and presenting user flows to both wireframe quality and high fidelity.
• Architecting technical requirements for features and ongoing design iterations, requiring a willingness to learn new tech and the ability to implement UI into the engine.
• Contributing to the maintenance of a working UI design system.
• Generating and collating assets necessary to complete the UI to shipping standard.
• Augment and build the skills and capabilities of the existing UI/UX team.
• Co-ordinating the creation of the user experience with other cross-disciplinary teams such as audio, narrative and accessibility stakeholders.
Desirable Skills
We really want to hear from you if:
• You have prior experience championing user experience design in a small UX team.
• You can work with video editing software and have experience with motion graphics.
• You have experience working with the user-interface middleware.
• Experience in working with user research teams and usability testing labs.
