The Role…

Working as a Pastoral Assistant within this SEMH school in Halifax, you will provide emotional, behavioural and pastoral support to students throughout the school day. You will work closely with teaching staff, safeguarding teams and outside agencies to help students regulate emotions, engage with learning and achieve positive outcomes.

This Pastoral Assistant role will involve:

Providing one-to-one and small group pastoral support

Supporting students with emotional regulation and wellbeing

Managing challenging behaviour using a therapeutic approach

Building strong and trusting relationships with students

Supporting attendance, engagement and positive routines

Working closely with safeguarding and pastoral teams

Supporting students both inside and outside of the classroomThe SEMH school in Halifax is looking for a Pastoral Assistant who:

Has experience supporting children or young people with SEMH needs

Is calm, patient and resilient

Can confidently manage challenging behaviour

Has experience within schools, alternative provisions, residential settings or youth work

Is passionate about making a difference to vulnerable young people
