About the role
In this post, you'll be working one-on-one with a young person on an EHCP. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced SEN professional or someone passionate about supporting children with diverse educational needs in a nurturing and inclusive environment.
Key Responsibilities
Provide one-to-one and small group support to pupils with special educational needs
Assist the class teacher in delivering tailored learning activities and interventions
Support pupils with their academic, social, emotional, and personal development
Help implement and monitor Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and individual learning targets
Encourage positive behaviour and support pupils in developing independence and confidence
Adapt resources and learning materials to meet individual pupil needs
Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, therapists, and parents/carers
Support pupils with personal care requirements where necessary
Maintain accurate records of pupil progress and behaviour
Ensure safeguarding, health and safety, and welfare requirements are always met
Requirements
Previous experience working with children with special educational needs in a school or educational setting
Understanding of a range of SEN, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, speech and language needs, and social, emotional, and mental health needs
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents/carers
Patient, empathetic, and resilient approach
Good organisational and time-management skills
Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
Relevant qualifications in education, childcare, or SEN support (preferred)
Positive, proactive, and professional attitude
