Learning Support Assistant - Secondary School

Location: Bristol

Start Date: September 2026

Salary: £96.25 to £105 per day

TeacherActive is proud to be working with a welcoming and inclusive secondary school in Bristol, seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join their team on a long-term basis from September. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your skills, make a real difference to students' lives, and build experience that will support future careers in teaching, educational psychology, or pastoral support.

As a Learning Support Assistant, you'll work alongside experienced teachers, supporting students across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4. You'll help pupils overcome barriers to learning, deliver small group and one-to-one interventions, encourage positive behaviour, and play an important role in creating an engaging learning environment where every student can thrive.

This role is ideal for:

Aspiring teachers looking to gain classroom experience before teacher training

Education Psychology graduates seeking hands-on experience supporting young people

Graduates considering a career in education

Experienced Teaching Assistants looking for a rewarding long-term role

The successful candidate will have:

Experience working with young people, either in schools or other educational settings

Confidence supporting students one-to-one and in small groups

An understanding of behaviour management strategies

Experience supporting students with SEN and/or SEMH is desirable

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

A positive, patient, and proactive approach
