Vision for Education is seeking a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to work in a charming village primary school in Lancaster, Lancashire. Set within a picturesque rural community, this rewarding SEND Teaching Assistant opportunity offers the chance to make a real difference in a close-knit school environment. The role starts in September 2026 and will continue for the remainder of the 2026/27 academic year, with the potential for a permanent position in 2027 for the right candidate.
The Role
This SEND Teaching Assistant role in Lancaster, Lancashire will see you supporting pupils in both Year 3 and Year 5 who have a range of additional learning needs, including SEND and SEMH. You will work closely with children with needs such as ASC and ADHD, providing tailored support to help them engage with learning, develop confidence and achieve their individual targets.
Working alongside the class teacher and wider school team, the successful SEND Teaching Assistant will:
Support pupils on a one-to-one basis and in small groups.
Deliver targeted interventions and adapt learning activities to meet individual needs.
Encourage positive behaviour and support pupils with emotional regulation strategies.
Build positive relationships that enable pupils to feel safe, valued and ready to learn.
Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff and families to ensure the best outcomes for every child.
Help create an inclusive, nurturing classroom environment where every pupil can thrive.
Previous experience supporting children with SEND, particularly those with ASC, ADHD and SEMH needs, within a primary school setting is highly desirable for this SEND Teaching Assistant position in Lancaster, Lancashire.

Requirements
To be considered for the role of SEND Teaching Assistant in Lancaster, Lancashire, you will:
Have experience supporting children with SEND, ideally within a primary school setting.
Have experience working with pupils with ASC, ADHD and/or SEMH needs.
Be patient, caring and passionate about helping every child reach their full potential.
Have excellent communication skills and enjoy working as part of a team.
Hold, or be willing to obtain, an enhanced DBS check registered to the Update Service.
