FE/College ALN Teaching Assistants Needed Across South Wales
Start Date: September 2026
Salary: 16.11 - 25 per hour (depending on experience and responsibilities)

Aspire People are working in partnership with Further Education providers across South Wales to recruit dedicated and compassionate ALN Teaching Assistants. This is a rewarding opportunity to support post-16 learners in developing independence, confidence, and key life and vocational skills as they progress into further education, training or employment.
The Role
Working within FE colleges and post-16 provisions, you will:
Provide 1:1 and small group support to learners with ALN within classroom and workshop environments
Support the delivery of engaging and inclusive learning alongside Lecturers
Assist learners in accessing both academic and vocational curricula, including practical sessions
Promote independence, confidence and positive learning behaviours
Support learners with a range of additional needs including ASD, SEMH and complex needs
Use a calm, patient and nurturing approach to behaviour management and de-escalation
Monitor progress and provide feedback to teaching staff on learner development
Support with personal care where required (dependent on role)
Contribute to maintaining a safe, supportive and structured learning environment

What We're Looking For
Experience supporting children or young people with SEN/ALN, SEMH or complex needs
Background in education, care, youth work or similar transferable sectors
Ability to build strong relationships and engage learners from a range of backgrounds
Strong communication, teamwork and organisational skills
Patient, resilient and adaptable approach to supporting learners
Relevant qualifications in Childcare, Health & Social Care or Education are desirable
Experience within FE, post-16 or school settings is advantageous
Registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC) is required (or willingness to obtain)
