Join a leading independent technology and services provider as an IT Configuration Technician (Technical Operative 1).

Job Overview:As a Technical Operative 1, you will be responsible for configuring and building IT equipment and software solutions, supporting bespoke system deployments, and ensuring accurate data entry and documentation. The role requires working to strict processes, meeting SLAs and productivity targets, handling IT hardware, and contributing to the successful fulfilment of customer orders through effective teamwork and communication.

Location: Hatfield (AL10 9TW)

Rate: £13.45 per hour (PAYE) OR £17.45 per hour (via a Hays Approved Umbrella Company), in-scope IR35

Contract Length: 09 July - 09 Oct 2026

Hours: Monday to Friday (8:00 AM - 4:00 PM)

Main Responsibilities

• Configure and install software within existing IT infrastructures and pre-defined project environments.
• Build and configure bespoke systems using detailed work instructions and scripts.
• Follow documented processes accurately to maintain quality and avoid escalations.
• Work with in-house systems and tools (full training provided).
• Provide clear and effective communication with supervisors, team leaders, and other stakeholders.
• Perform high-volume data entry and spreadsheet updates with strong attention to detail.
• Consolidate consignments and prepare equipment for distribution.
• Manage assigned workloads while understanding their impact on overall customer orders.
• Communicate proactively regarding workload progress, delays, or completion ahead of schedule.
• Support pallet movement and work planning activities within the warehouse environment.
• Meet productivity targets, SLAs, and deadlines through effective time management.
• Box, unbox, and prepare IT equipment for configuration and deployment.
• Deliver basic to intermediate-level IT configuration services.
• Work independently while managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Maintain accuracy, quality, and efficiency throughout the configuration process.
• Demonstrate familiarity with Microsoft desktop operating systems and related IT hardware.

Key Requirements

• Willing to go through SC Clearance
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• IT background
• Data input experience is essential
• Flexibility to react to demand on short notice.
• Proactive whilst being a team player
• Ability to work to driven targets and SLA and time management skills.
• Knowledge of I.T componentry.
• Accuracy and attention to detail.
