Teaching Assistant - Reception Class
Barnet, NW11 (commutable from Golders Green, Hampstead Garden Suburb, Finchley, Hendon, East Finchley)
110- 120 per day
Start Date: September 2026
Contract: Full-time, long-term temporary

Long Term Futures is recruiting an experienced Teaching Assistant to join a highly regarded infant school in Barnet, supporting within a Reception class from September.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Teaching Assistant who understands the pace, structure and expectations of a Reception classroom. The school has been very clear that they are looking for someone with previous Reception class experience, rather than nursery or preschool experience alone.

A minimum of six months' experience working within a Reception class in a primary school is essential. Unfortunately, applicants with nursery or preschool-only experience cannot be considered.

About the Role
Working alongside the Reception teacher and EYFS team, you will:
Support teaching and learning within a busy Reception classroom
Assist with the delivery of phonics, early reading, writing and maths activities
Encourage children's communication, language and social development through structured learning and play
Support pupils during continuous provision and adult-led activities
Help prepare engaging learning resources and maintain an organised classroom environment
Promote positive behaviour, independence and confidence throughout the school day
Work collaboratively with teachers, parents and support staff to ensure every child reaches their potential
This is a fantastic opportunity to join an experienced Early Years team where you'll play a key role in helping children make a successful transition into school life.

Essential Requirements
Minimum six months' experience working within a Reception class in a primary school
Good understanding of the EYFS Framework and Reception curriculum
Experience supporting phonics and early language development
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Patient, nurturing and proactive approach to supporting young learners
Committed to a long-term role from September
