Job Summary

Classroom Support Workers are required to support pupils with autism, complex learning difficulties and additional needs within a specialist Birmingham school. This rewarding role is ideal for caring, proactive and enthusiastic individuals who are passionate about helping young people develop confidence, independence and achieve their full potential.

The School and Role

Calthorpe Academy is a large specialist school supporting pupils aged 2 19 with a wide range of additional needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD) and complex medical needs. Rated 'Outstanding' by Ofsted, the school provides a highly supportive and inclusive environment where pupils are encouraged to thrive academically, socially and emotionally.

The school is looking to appoint dedicated Classroom Support Workers to work alongside experienced teachers, therapists and support staff. You will support pupils to access a personalised curriculum through sensory learning, communication-based activities and practical learning experiences, helping them to achieve their individual goals.

This role is perfect for candidates from education, care, residential support, healthcare or youth work backgrounds who are looking to transfer their skills into a rewarding career within SEND education. No two days are the same, and you will have the opportunity to make a genuine difference to the lives of young people every day.

The role may include supporting pupils with personal care and mobility needs, promoting independence and encouraging positive engagement both inside and outside of the classroom. Long-term opportunities are available, with many roles offering the potential to become permanent.

Requirements

The desired Classroom Support Worker will have;

  • Experience working with children, young people or vulnerable adults is desirable
  • A caring, patient and proactive approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A willingness to support personal care where required
  • A passion for supporting pupils with additional needs

  • Guaranteed pay scheme (subject to availability).

  • Pension contributions.
  • CPD to help with your professional development.
  • Access to a dedicated consultant.
