Location: Bromley
Contract: 3 Months (with the possibility of extension)
Rate: Competitive, dependent on experience

Aatom Recruitment is currently recruiting for an Employment Specialist to work on behalf of a local authority in Bromley on an initial 3-month contract, with the potential for extension.

This is an exciting opportunity to support the delivery of the Trailblazer Programme, helping economically inactive residents overcome barriers to employment and secure sustainable job opportunities.

About the Role

As an Employment Specialist, you will play a key role in supporting Bromley residents into meaningful and sustainable employment. Working with individuals who may face challenges such as health conditions, disabilities, or long-term unemployment, you will provide tailored employment support, vocational coaching, and ongoing in-work guidance.

You will work closely with employers, healthcare providers, Jobcentre Plus, community organisations, and internal council services to ensure participants receive the support they need to achieve positive employment outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver one-to-one employment coaching and employability support to programme participants.
  • Create personalised employment support plans and identify suitable job opportunities.
  • Support participants with CV writing, applications, interview preparation, and job searching.
  • Engage with local employers to source suitable vacancies and employment opportunities.
  • Facilitate employer grants and financial support available through Bromley Works.
  • Provide ongoing in-work support, coaching, and job retention interventions.
  • Act as a liaison between employers and employees to resolve workplace issues and support long-term employment sustainability.
  • Deliver outreach activities, information sessions, and awareness campaigns to promote the Trailblazer Programme.
  • Build strong relationships with Jobcentre Plus, healthcare providers, voluntary organisations, and community groups to identify and engage eligible participants.
  • Maintain accurate case records and ensure compliance with programme requirements and performance targets.

Skills and Experience Required

Essential Skills

  • Strong employment coaching, mentoring, and vocational support skills.
  • Experience supporting individuals with barriers to employment, including those with disabilities, health conditions, or long-term unemployment.
  • Excellent communication, relationship-building, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Ability to engage employers and promote inclusive recruitment practices.
  • Strong organisational and case management abilities.
  • Experience managing multiple caseloads and working towards performance targets.
  • Problem-solving skills with the ability to tailor support to individual needs.
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications and CRM systems.

Knowledge Required

  • Understanding of supported employment services and employment support programmes.
  • Knowledge of economic inactivity and barriers to employment.
  • Awareness of employment law, the Equality Act 2010, and workplace adjustments.
  • Understanding of local labour market trends and employer recruitment needs.
  • Knowledge of DWP services, Jobcentre Plus support, Access to Work funding, and employer incentives.
  • Understanding of the social, economic, physical, and mental health barriers that can impact employment.

Essential Experience

Supporting individuals into paid employment through supported employment, vocational rehabilitation, or similar services.

Providing in-work support to both employees and employers.

Building effective relationships with employers and promoting inclusive employment practices.

Managing caseloads and delivering person-centred support plans.

Working collaboratively with external partners, including healthcare providers and community organisations.

Using CRM systems and maintaining accurate records and performance data.

Qualifications

Degree, diploma, or equivalent qualification in a relevant subject area; or

Significant relevant experience within supported employment, vocational rehabilitation, employability services, or direct support services.
