Behavior Support Mentor (1:1 Secondary Specialist)

Location: Huyton, Liverpool (Outstanding SEND Secondary School)

Contract: Full-Time, Long-Term

Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:45 – 15:45

An outstanding SEND Secondary School in Huyton is looking for a dedicated 1:1 Behaviour Support Mentor to partner with a lively, highly energetic secondary school student currently paired with our team.

The Role & The Student

You will be working 1:1 with a lovely, energetic boy who has ADHD. He is incredibly bright and fiercely competitive, but he faces significant emotional and behavioral hurdles. His triggers are wide-ranging—including hunger, thirst, a split home environment, sudden routine changes, or simply losing a game.

When triggered, his behavior can escalate rapidly into physical outbursts, which can include lashing out and targeting other males meaning his environment is dynamic and fast-paced.

This role requires a very specific blend of personality and physical capability. We are looking for someone who brings:

An Athletic & Active Lifestyle: You need the physical stamina to keep up with a high-energy teenager, match his pace, and safely manage his climbing tendencies.

A Thick Skin & High Emotional Intelligence: Outbursts will happen. You must have the ability to handle difficult, physically challenging moments calmly and professionally, without taking them personally.

A Laid-Back, Adaptable Attitude: You are someone who easily goes with the flow, adapts to sudden changes in routine, and can descalate tension with a calm, grounded presence.

Experience (Desirable but not essential): Backgrounds in sports coaching, youth mentoring, residential care, or military/emergency services transition exceptionally well into this environment.
