Are you a passionate Early Years Practitioner looking for a rewarding role within a welcoming mainstream primary school?

Do you hold a Level 2, Level 3, or Early Years degree and want to make a real difference during the most important stage of a child's education?

A friendly and inclusive mainstream primary school in Newham is seeking an enthusiastic Early Years Practitioner to join their Early Years Foundation Stage team from September 2026. This is a full-time, long-term opportunity, working within either the Nursery or Reception class, supporting children during the crucial early stages of their learning and development.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Early Years Practitioner, EYFS Teaching Assistant, or a graduate with an Early Childhood Studies or Early Years Education degree who is passionate about helping children develop the confidence, curiosity, and skills they need to flourish.

The Role

As an Early Years Practitioner, you will work alongside the class teacher to deliver high-quality learning experiences that support every aspect of children's development. You will help create a safe, stimulating, and nurturing environment where children are encouraged to learn through exploration, play, and meaningful interactions.

Working within either Nursery or Reception, you will support children's communication, language, literacy, numeracy, physical development, and personal, social, and emotional development while ensuring every child feels valued, supported, and ready to achieve their full potential.

Responsibilities
  • Support teaching and learning within the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
  • Work within either Nursery or Reception classes.
  • Deliver engaging play-based learning activities alongside the class teacher.
  • Provide targeted support for individuals and small groups.
  • Encourage early reading, phonics, writing, communication, and mathematical development.
  • Support children's social, emotional, and behavioural development.
  • Help create a stimulating indoor and outdoor learning environment.
  • Observe children's progress and contribute to learning journeys and assessments.
  • Promote independence, curiosity, creativity, and confidence.
  • Ensure safeguarding, welfare, and health and safety procedures are always followed.
About You

To be considered for this Early Years Practitioner role, you will have:

  • A Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Early Years or Childcare, or
  • A degree in Early Childhood Studies, Early Years Education, or a related Early Years qualification.
  • Previous experience working within EYFS, Nursery, Reception, or an early years setting.
  • A sound understanding of the EYFS Framework and child development.
  • A genuine passion for supporting young children during their early learning journey.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • A nurturing, patient, and enthusiastic approach.
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.

Whether you have experience within a primary school, nursery, preschool, children's centre, or private nursery, we would love to hear from you.

The School

This welcoming mainstream primary school in Newham is recognised for its outstanding Early Years provision and its commitment to giving every child the very best start to their education. The school places great importance on learning through play, language development, and creating a nurturing environment where children feel safe, happy, and excited to learn.

Staff work collaboratively within a supportive team, and you will benefit from excellent mentoring, ongoing professional development, and a leadership team that genuinely values its Early Years staff.

Why Apply?
  • Full-time September 2026 start.
  • Long-term opportunity with the potential for a permanent contract.
  • Work within a highly supportive mainstream primary school.
  • Join an established and experienced EYFS team.
  • Opportunities for continuous professional development.
  • Ideal for qualified Early Years Practitioners and Early Years graduates.
  • Gain valuable experience within an excellent Nursery or Reception setting.
