Job Description

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Civil Site Engineer to join a high-profile infrastructure project working within a National Grid environment. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong engineering professional with previous National Grid site experience to secure a long-term contract on a major utility project offering highly competitive rates.

This role will suit an individual with a strong background in civil engineering, setting out, technical documentation management, and infrastructure delivery who is confident operating within highly regulated environments where safety, compliance, and engineering accuracy are critical.

The Role

As Civil Site Engineer, you will play a key role supporting the successful delivery of civil works on site, ensuring engineering activities are completed safely, accurately, and in line with National Grid Technical Specifications. You will support the wider site team through technical coordination, setting out duties, document control, and quality assurance while maintaining the highest standards of health and safety throughout the project.

Key Responsibilities

Carrying out accurate setting out duties for line and level using surveying equipment

Reading and interpreting engineering drawings, technical specifications, and site plans

Ensuring all civil works comply fully with National Grid Technical Specifications (NGTS)

Managing and controlling all civil engineering drawings and technical documentation

Supporting constructability reviews with the wider civil delivery team

Raising and managing Technical Queries (TQs) when required

Producing and maintaining accurate As-Built Drawings

Supporting procurement activities including obtaining supplier quotations and raising orders

Conducting site inspections and monitoring quality standards across ongoing works

Working closely with project managers, supervisors, subcontractors, and engineering teams

Ensuring full compliance with site health & safety procedures, permits, and safe systems of work

Essential Requirements

To be considered for this role, candidates must have:

✔ Previous experience working on National Grid sites

✔ Valid NG Persons Certification

✔ Strong setting out experience using surveying equipment for line and level

✔ Previous experience as a Civil Site Engineer on infrastructure, utilities, or civil engineering projects

✔ Strong understanding of National Grid Technical Specifications (NGTS)

✔ Experience managing engineering drawings and technical documentation

✔ Experience producing As-Built Drawings

✔ Experience raising and managing Technical Queries (TQs)

✔ Manual Handling awareness and experience working safely on site

Additional Experience Beneficial

Previous experience working within utilities or high-voltage infrastructure projects

Experience coordinating subcontractors and multiple site teams

Strong communication and organisational skills

Experience working within technically demanding, highly regulated site environments

Important Information

NG Persons certification is mandatory

Previous National Grid experience is essential
