Test Automation Engineer

About The Role

FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a Test Automation Engineer to work for our client within the Financial Services sector. This is initially a 12 month contract with the potential to extend and will be a remote role.

Our client is seeking a Test Automation Engineer to support the delivery and quality assurance of financial services client platforms. This role will involve a blend of manual and automated testing, working closely with developers, business analysts, and client stakeholders to ensure the delivery of high‑quality, stable, and resilient systems.

Responsibilities:

* Design, develop, and maintain automated test solutions for backend and frontend applications, using Java‑based automation frameworks.

* Execute manual functional, integration, and regression testing where automation is not yet available or appropriate.

* Test systems built on Java backend services, Oracle databases, and React‑based user interfaces, ensuring end‑to‑end coverage.

* Collaborate closely with developers and delivery teams to define test scenarios, improve testability, and embed quality throughout the SDLC.

* Support production releases and post‑release validation, contributing to defect triage, root‑cause analysis, and continuous improvement of test coverage.

About You

Requirements:

* Minimum of 3 years commercial experience in a QA / Test Automation Engineer role, with hands‑on exposure to both manual and automated testing.

* Strong understanding of test automation using Java, with experience working on backend services and APIs.

* Experience testing Oracle‑based systems, including data validation and SQL‑driven test scenarios.

* Exposure to frontend testing for modern web applications, ideally React‑based UIs.

* Experience working in Agile delivery environments, with the ability to engage effectively with technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
