Job Title: SEN Teacher

Location: Watford, Hertfordshire

Salary: M1–UPS3 (£34,398–£52,490)

Contract: Full-time

Start Date: September 2026

We are looking to appoint a dedicated, compassionate and enthusiastic SEN Teacher to join a welcoming and supportive school in Watford from September 2026. This is an excellent opportunity for a committed teacher who is passionate about supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs and helping every child achieve their full potential.

The successful candidate will become part of a collaborative and experienced team, delivering high-quality, personalised teaching to pupils with a range of additional needs. The school has a strong inclusive ethos and is committed to creating a positive learning environment where every pupil is encouraged to succeed.

Key Responsibilities

Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons that meet the individual needs of pupils with Special Educational Needs.

Create a positive, inclusive and nurturing classroom environment where pupils feel safe, supported and valued.

Develop and review Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and contribute to Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) where appropriate.

Assess, monitor and record pupils' progress, adapting teaching strategies to support individual learning needs.

Work closely with teaching assistants, the SENCO, therapists and other professionals to ensure pupils receive the highest standard of support.

Build positive relationships with parents and carers, keeping them informed of pupils' progress and development.

Encourage pupils' independence, confidence, communication and social development.

Uphold safeguarding procedures and contribute positively to the wider school community.

What We're Looking For

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).

Experience teaching pupils with Special Educational Needs, either within a specialist setting or in a mainstream school.

A good understanding of SEND and inclusive teaching practice.

Strong classroom management and communication skills.

A patient, adaptable and nurturing approach to teaching.

The ability to work effectively as part of a supportive team.

An enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or a willingness to obtain one.
