Assistant Quantity Surveyor – Freelance

📍 Location: Halifax

💷 Rate: £300–£350 per day (DOE)

📅 Duration: Long-Term Contract

BCS Connect is currently recruiting for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join a well-established civil engineering contractor on a long-term freelance basis.

This is an excellent opportunity to work on major civil engineering and groundworks projects, supporting the commercial team while gaining exposure to a varied and challenging workload.

The Role

As an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you'll play a key role in supporting the commercial management of projects, ensuring costs are controlled and commercial objectives are achieved.

Key Responsibilities

* Assisting with the commercial management of civil engineering and groundworks projects.

* Preparing and managing project costings.

* Supporting the administration and agreement of compensation events.

* Assisting with change management throughout the project lifecycle.

* Monitoring project costs and reporting on commercial performance.

* Preparing valuations and assisting with subcontractor payments.

* Working closely with site and commercial teams to ensure projects remain commercially successful.

* Maintaining accurate commercial records and documentation.

* Requirements

* Previous experience working as an Assistant Quantity Surveyor.

* Strong background within civil engineering and groundworks.

* Proven experience with costings, compensation events, and change management.

* Excellent commercial awareness and attention to detail.

* Ability to work effectively within a project team.

* Strong communication and organisational skills.
