Make a Positive Difference Every Day

Are you passionate about supporting children and young people to reach their full potential?

SparkEd Recruitment is working in partnership with a welcoming and progressive specialist school in Cornwall to recruit dedicated SEND Learning Mentors. This is a rewarding opportunity to support pupils across Key Stages 1 to 4, helping them overcome barriers to learning and thrive both academically and personally.

As a Learning Mentor, you'll work closely with students who have Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, providing encouragement, consistency, and tailored support to help them succeed.

About the Role

In this full-time position, you will:

  • Support pupils with their learning, emotional wellbeing, and personal development.
  • Build positive, trusting relationships that promote confidence and engagement.
  • Encourage positive behaviour and help students develop effective coping strategies.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and support staff to create an inclusive learning environment.
  • Help pupils achieve their individual goals and reach their full potential.

Students you support may present with a range of SEMH needs, including:

  • Challenging behaviour
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Trauma
About You

We're looking for compassionate, resilient, and enthusiastic individuals who are committed to making a meaningful difference in the lives of young people.

You may already have experience supporting children or young people with additional needs or challenging behaviour, but this is not essential. We also welcome applications from candidates with transferable skills and a genuine passion for supporting others.

This role would suit:

  • Graduates, particularly in Psychology, Education, or related subjects.
  • Individuals with experience in childcare, youth work, health and social care, mentoring, coaching, or support work.
  • Those interested in working with children with SEND, including Autism and ADHD.
  • Candidates who are patient, adaptable, reliable, and confident building positive relationships.

No previous school experience is required, as full online training and ongoing support will be provided.

What We Offer
  • Competitive rates of pay.
  • Comprehensive online training and continuous professional development.
  • Dedicated wellbeing support to help maintain a healthy work-life balance.
  • Ongoing support from your own dedicated SparkEd Recruitment consultant.
  • The opportunity to gain valuable experience within a supportive specialist school while making a lasting impact on young people's lives.

Why SparkED Recruitment?
