Business Support Officer

• Job Type: Full-time, Temporary

• Pay: £13.26 per hour PAYE
• Working Hours: 9am till 5pm

Kirklees Council are seeking a temporary Business Support Officer to manage the input of applications for free school meals into their IT system. This role is crucial as changes to free school meals eligibility require a complete recheck of our caseload of approximately 19,000 children. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent IT skills, high accuracy, and the ability to work independently under tight deadlines.

Day-to-day of the role:

• Input and update applications for free school meals in the IT system, ensuring each case reflects current eligibility.
• Organise and prioritise workload to meet the project deadline without compromising on the quality of work.
• Respond to queries and issues related to office equipment and IT services.
• Collaborate with the Team Leader to monitor and improve performance indicators to enhance customer satisfaction.
• Participate in service reviews, planning, and the implementation of new policies and processes to ensure high-quality service delivery.
• Act as an ambassador for the organisation, promoting its vision and values, and contributing to service development and risk management strategies.
• Maintain accurate information systems and ensure compliance with all organisational policies, including health and safety and safeguarding.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Proven experience in data entry or a similar administrative role, preferably within an educational or public sector environment.
• Excellent IT skills with confidence using a range of software packages.
• Ability to organise and manage own workload effectively, with meticulous attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently.
• Available to work full-time from 20 July to 30 August, with flexibility in start and finish times as long as 37 hours are worked weekly.
