Pastoral Mentor - Behaviour Focus (Secondary) Location: Westminster, Central LondonPay: £108.68 - £115 per dayContract Type: Full-time Long-term to PermanentStart Date: September 2026 (or ASAP)Commutable from: Camden, Kensington & Chelsea, Brent, Hammersmith & Fulham, Islington, Lambeth, Southwark, Paddington, Marylebone and surrounding Central London areas. Long Term Futures is recruiting a resilient and compassionate Pastoral Mentor to join a supportive secondary school in Westminster. This full-time opportunity is ideal for someone with experience supporting young people with behavioural, social or emotional needs who is passionate about helping students make positive choices and succeed in education. Working closely with the school's pastoral and behaviour teams, you will support students across Key Stages 3 and 4, helping to improve behaviour, attendance, engagement and emotional wellbeing. The successful candidate will build strong relationships with pupils, providing consistent guidance and helping them overcome barriers to learning both inside and outside the classroom.Key Responsibilities

• Provide targeted pastoral and behavioural support to students across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.
• Build positive, professional relationships with pupils who require additional guidance and mentoring.
• Deliver one-to-one and small-group interventions focusing on behaviour, emotional regulation and personal development.
• Support students with SEMH needs, ADHD, Autism (ASC) and other additional learning or behavioural needs.
• Work alongside teaching staff to implement effective behaviour management strategies and promote positive classroom engagement.
• Respond calmly and confidently to challenging behaviour, using restorative and de-escalation techniques where appropriate.
• Monitor student behaviour, attendance and wellbeing, maintaining accurate records and providing feedback to pastoral leaders.
• Liaise with parents, external agencies and school staff to ensure pupils receive consistent support.
• Encourage resilience, self-confidence and positive decision-making to improve both academic and personal outcomes.
• Help maintain a safe, respectful and inclusive learning environment throughout the school.

Essential Candidate Requirements

• Previous experience as a Behaviour Mentor, Pastoral Mentor, Behaviour Support Assistant, Learning Mentor, Teaching Assistant, Youth Worker or in a similar role supporting young people.
• Experience working with secondary-aged students is highly desirable.
• A strong understanding of behaviour management, restorative practice and safeguarding.
• Confidence supporting pupils with SEMH, ASD, ADHD or other additional needs.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to build trust with students, staff and families.
• A calm, patient and resilient approach, particularly when managing challenging situations.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to work effectively as part of a wider pastoral team.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
